Compensation Range: $75,000 up to $94,000 annually
Job Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the incumbent will be responsible for supporting and completion of new product launches, prototyping, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), engineering changes, problem solving, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing initiatives, and Material Review Team (MRT) activities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Creation and revision of process drawings and machine parameters
- Analyze process to ensure optimization of part setup, machine programming, and tooling
- Act as a liaison between the Company and external suppliers to develop equipment and process improvements
- Design, approve, error-proof, and troubleshoot part fixtures
- Create CMM programs, specify required tooling, and perform advanced machine adjustments
- Source equipment, fixtures, and tooling as requested
- Lead Continuous Improvement projects and Lean Manufacturing for new launches and production parts
- Coordinates activities with production/manufacturing work to meet schedules
- Take action to close engineering change notices
- Participate and lead in MRT activities related to non-conforming materials
- Review, investigate, and disposition non-conforming parts in collaboration with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams
- Support containment activities and implement corrective and preventative action to reduce recurrence
- Maintain accurate documentation of MRT decisions and ensure compliance with customers and quality
- Perform operator training and provide technical support to production personnel
- Other duties as required
Educational Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, or a minimum of 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
Required Skills & Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of machining, castings, and welding
- Hands-on setup, CNC machining, and tooling experience are a must-have
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, Mastercam, and MRP systems is an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
- Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and analyze difficult issues
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of ISO 9001
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume environment
- Demonstrated ability to perform both independently and with good judgment in a team environment
- Must have a valid driver’s licence and be able to travel domestically
Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, Mastercam, and MRP systems an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may involve standing, walking, and moving around the production area for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move equipment or materials up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional work in confined spaces or elevated platforms when inspecting or maintaining equipment.
- The role is primarily based in a manufacturing facility, with significant time spent on the production floor.
- The environment may include exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and other chemicals, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
