The Senior Manager, Systems & Infrastructure provides leadership and oversight for Sunrise Credit Union’s IT infrastructure, systems operations, and technology services. Reporting to the Director, Systems & Security, this role ensures the stability, reliability, and scalability of Sunrise’s networks, servers, and core systems that enable secure, uninterrupted member and employee experiences.
The Senior Manager leads a team of IT Officers, providing technical direction, prioritization, and hands-on guidance in the management of system availability, performance, and cybersecurity readiness. This role contributes to strategic technology planning and ensures infrastructure and system support practices align with enterprise security standards, regulatory requirements, and Sunrise’s digital transformation goals.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Infrastructure Operations & Systems Management
- Oversee the day-to-day performance, reliability, and availability of Sunrise Credit Union’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud environments.
- Ensure regular system maintenance, patch management, and backups are executed according to policy and industry standards.
- Lead system configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting to prevent downtime and performance issues.
- Manage infrastructure documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures for audit and compliance readiness.
Network & Security Operations
- Oversee network performance, access controls, and connectivity across all branches and locations.
- Collaborate with the Director, Systems & Security to ensure cybersecurity practices are embedded in infrastructure management.
- Support implementation of vulnerability assessments, endpoint protection, and data loss prevention measures.
- Coordinate with vendors and partners to resolve network or infrastructure security incidents efficiently.
Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
- Maintain and test business continuity and disaster recovery procedures for critical infrastructure and systems.
- Ensure backup and recovery processes are operational, documented, and regularly validated.
- Participate in BCP/DR exercises and report results, risks, and corrective actions to the Director, Systems & Security.
Service Management & Support
- Lead IT Officers in providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support and system troubleshooting.
- Ensure service tickets are resolved in alignment with service level objectives (SLOs).
- Monitor incident trends and implement preventive solutions to reduce recurring issues.
- Champion IT service management (ITSM) practices, including incident, problem, and change management.
Planning, Strategy & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the infrastructure strategy and long-term technology roadmap.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, recommend infrastructure improvements, and support project implementation.
- Identify automation opportunities and drive process improvements to enhance system performance and efficiency.
- Support lifecycle management, asset tracking, and infrastructure budgeting.
People Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor IT Officers, setting clear objectives and providing ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-focused team culture.
- Promote technical knowledge sharing and cross-training to strengthen operational resilience.
Vendor, Reporting & Collaboration
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, ensuring adherence to service levels and support agreements.
- Provide regular reports on system uptime, incidents, and infrastructure performance to the Director, Systems & Security.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Digital Solutions Support to coordinate cross-functional initiatives impacting both infrastructure and digital systems.
- Support cross-departmental IT initiatives and participate in technology governance committees as needed.
Other Duties
- Support enterprise initiatives requiring infrastructure and systems expertise.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to IT infrastructure.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director, Systems & Security.
Education & Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- Minimum 7–10 years of total IT experience, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of network infrastructure, virtualization, cloud computing, and server environments.
- Experience managing enterprise IT operations, service delivery, and incident resolution.
Preferred
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Systems Administrator, VMware, CompTIA Network+, Azure Administrator, or ITIL Foundation.
- Experience working in a credit union or financial institution.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (CIS, NIST, ISO 27001) and risk management practices.
- Experience implementing cloud migration, automation, or modernization projects.

- Familiarity with IT project management methodologies and experience supporting implementation or upgrade initiatives.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex situations and develop effective solutions.
- Highly motivated self-starter with strong self-management and accountability; demonstrates initiative and acts proactively without the need for direction.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and trust.
