This position can be based in Labrador West or Fly In Fly Out from our St. John’s office to our mine site in Labrador West. The shift schedule will be 7 days on, 7 days off rotation (dayshift).
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor quality and recovery, advise control room operators to make changes to keep within specifications or to optimize the process.
- Metallurgical accounting/plant balances
- Work closely with the mine team to optimize the ore blend feeding the plant.
- Monitor process variables and advise the operations manager/supervisor if targets can not be achieved
- Frequent plant visits to observe operation equipment operation to look for improvement opportunities or to observe equipment when abnormal data trends are noticed.
- Standard Operating Procedure development and review when required.
- Aid in troubleshooting any process related issues.
- Conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on process issues to eliminate repeat occurrences.
- Collect samples as required to aid troubleshooting & calibrations
- Constantly looking for improvement opportunities to optimize quality, recovery or productivity.
- Take the lead on process related projects and initiatives from conception to implementation.
- Prepare and conduct sampling campaigns based on improvement opportunities identified or for projects assigned, including data analysis & recommendations.
- Attend daily/weekly meetings as required. Lead Metallurgical update meeting
- Other projects as determined by managers.

Education & Experience:
- B.Sc. in Metallurgy, Chemical or Mineral Process Engineering
- Experience in a technical role in an ore Concentrator environment or equivalent.
