The Opportunity
Reporting to the Leader, National Casualty and Bodily Injury Claims, you are a Claims professional with a track record of progressively challenging claims handling. You will be accountable for the investigation, negotiation and settlement of Complex Third Party Bodily Injury and Casualty claims. This includes Automobile, Homeowners, and Commercial third party claims. You are motivated by a challenge and strive to continually develop yourself and others. You actively support change and seek to improve. You have effectively managed a portfolio of Senior Casualty and Bodily Injury claims. You are able to work autonomously, while understanding and supporting the Team environment. You are willing to assist others and are comfortable coaching and mentoring junior team members. You have a desire to be part of a diverse, highly engaged and high-performance team.
What to Expect
Managing a portfolio of complex Bodily Injury, Casualty, and General Liability Claims.
Engage all stakeholders in the effective management of a claim including underwriting, reinsurance, actuary and senior leadership
Represent Definity in litigation, mediation, and alternate dispute processes
Assist in training and providing technical support to team members
Mentoring and Coaching junior team members
Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions, whether with customer, co-workers or vendors
Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
Strive to continually push the boundaries of your adjusting experience and personal learnings
Team player adaptable to changing environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
What You Bring
University degree in any discipline or a 2 year college diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college or fully completed CIP designation
Bilingualism in both English and French is an asset
Licensed in multiple provinces is an asset
A minimum of 8 - 10 years general claims handling experience
A minimum of 4 years claims experience handling large CGL and/or bodily injury claims Experience with mediation, arbitration and litigation
A passion for coaching and mentoring junior staff
You’re dependable with strong interpersonal skills
You have strong communication skills
You’re focused on building engagement and culture
Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills
Salary Range: $73,500 - $123,500
Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.
