Trycewell Partners is recruiting on behalf of a growing Western Canadian oil & gas contractor for an experienced Corporate HSE Manager.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone looking to oversee the company's corporate HSE function across Western Canada. Working closely with executive leadership and operations, you'll provide strategic direction, lead an established team, and help drive a strong, consistent safety culture across the organization.
If you've built your career in pipeline construction, integrity, maintenance, or oil & gas construction and are looking for a long-term opportunity where you can make a meaningful impact beyond a single project, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the company's corporate HSE program across Western Canada.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of approximately six Safety Team Leads, with oversight of up to twelve Safety Advisors during peak operational periods.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve HSE policies, programs, procedures and management systems.
- Partner closely with executive leadership, operations and project management to ensure safety remains a core focus across the business.
- Foster a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentorship and leadership.
- Ensure compliance with provincial legislation, client requirements and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain safe work procedures, job hazard assessments, safe work practices and other HSE documentation.
- Conduct audits, inspections and program reviews while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Monitor HSE performance, investigate trends and implement corrective actions where required.
- Support estimating, project planning and pre-job safety deliverables.
- Travel throughout Western Canada to support operations, mentor field teams and maintain a visible leadership presence.
- Drive consistency across multiple operating regions while helping position the organization for continued growth.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive Health, Safety & Environment experience within oil & gas construction, pipeline construction, integrity, maintenance or related industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing safety teams across multiple projects, regions or business units.
- Previous corporate or regional HSE management experience rather than solely project-based HSE.
- Strong knowledge of pipeline construction, integrity digs, cut-outs, maintenance activities and related infrastructure work.
- Experience working with major owner/operators such as Enbridge, TC Energy or similar organizations is considered a strong asset.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence all levels of an organization.
- Strong knowledge of provincial OH&S legislation, regulatory compliance and industry best practices.
- CSO or NCSO designation required.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- CRSP designation is considered an asset.
- A long-term mindset with the desire to build, stabilize and continuously improve an organization's safety function.
This role offers the opportunity to lead an established team, influence safety strategy across a growing organization, and build a long-term career with a company committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
