Tasks
Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions

Load and unload goods
Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
Perform brake adjustments
Perform emergency roadside repairs
Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
Perform preventive maintenance
Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
Inspect to ensure that safe working conditions are maintained
Operate a roll-off, hook-lift, or crane-equipped truck to deliver, position, and remove waste bins at residential, commercial, industrial, and construction sites.
Safely load, transport, and unload bins containing construction debris, demolition materials, soil, concrete, asphalt, wood, scrap metal, and other waste materials.
Use hydraulic controls to accurately place and retrieve bins in driveways, alleys, and confined spaces while avoiding damage to surrounding property.
Inspect delivery sites for overhead power lines, trees, fences, uneven ground, and other hazards before placing or removing bins.
Perform daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and hydraulic equipment, and report mechanical defects.
Secure bins and loads to ensure safe transportation in compliance with provincial transportation and safety regulations.
Complete driver logs, inspection reports, delivery records
Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules, pickups, and any site access issues.
Follow all company safety policies, traffic laws, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance of the truck and associated equipment.
