WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR- Post-secondary degree in economic development, commerce, marketing, public/business administration, tourism or a related field.
- Must possess and maintain a valid BC drivers’ licence as per City policy.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ recent, progressively responsible experience in economic development, tourism or closely related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ recent progressive supervisory
- experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Previous local government experience.
- Experience in destination marketing and promotion using multiple mediums and digital platforms.
- Experience in the development of departmental and corporate long-range plans as well as budget formulation and reporting processes.
- Experience working effectively with Indigenous communities.
WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT- Certified Economic Developer (Ec.D.) designation.
- Local government administration or municipal leadership.
- Experience with MRDT programs and working with Destination BC, Destination Canada, or similar.
- Experience supporting Indigenous tourism initiatives, intergovernmental relations and reconciliation-related programs.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING- Spearhead the City’s economic and tourism initiatives, guiding strategic plans, departmental work programs, and investment readiness.
- Drive destination development, business retention & attraction and MRDT supported tourism programming.
- Provide day-to-day leadership to staff, oversee department budgets, monitor performance metrics.
- Collaborates with the community, Indigenous Nations, businesses, and government partners to advance economic growth and tourism in Campbell River.
