Our client is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager with a background in construction to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of our construction sites and fostering a culture of safety among our workforce.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures specific to construction activities, in compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective measures to mitigate potential accidents or injuries.
- Provide leadership and guidance to site personnel on health and safety practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety requirements and promote a proactive approach to safety management.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, and incorporate them into the company's health and safety program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certified Health and Safety Professional (CHSP) designation preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in health and safety management within the construction industry.
- Thorough knowledge of construction safety regulations, codes, and standards, with a focus on Ontario regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.
