The Safety Department, within the broader Health, Safety and Wellness Department, is responsible to promote, maintain and actively improve workplace safety through the identification, assessment and control of hazards in the workplace; to mitigate the risk of identified hazards and ultimately prevent work-related injury and illness; to respond with appropriate protocol to an incident and/or injury to minimize frequency and severity, prevent recurrence and communicate to all stakeholders.
Position Summary
The Ergonomist draws on expertise in ergonomics to contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of musculoskeletal injury prevention programs. They will provide guidance and assistance with ergonomic related issues and issues related MSDs. Assists in identifying workplace ergonomic hazards, and implementation of measures to reduce or eliminate such problems. Performs ergonomic job hazard analyses of work stations with identified risk factors including job process, work station and work method and follows up to evaluate effectiveness of changes. Conducts best practice research and contributes to issue papers, presentations and program development, and complete special assignments as assigned. Assists with implementation of the Musculoskeletal Disorders Prevention initiative which may include developing and delivering patient handling and materials handling training, resource and tool development, data analysis, evaluation and report writing. Assists with developing/conducting Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) and provides identifies ergonomic solutions to assist with workplace accommodation where required.

Qualifications
- Degree in Kinesiology, or equivalent, with specific education or training in ergonomics.
- Preferred certifications and/or designations include: Associate Ergonomist (AE), Associate Ergonomist Professional (AEP), Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE) and/or Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE).
- Outstanding PC skills in a variety of computer software such as Office 365, Web-based applications and Cority
- Excellence in effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, time management and organizational skills.
- Effective presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to participate in problem management to foster continuous improvement.
- Ability to work on own initiative, organize and establish priorities within multiple tasks.
- Ability to work with team members to facilitate daily operations of health and wellness.
- Demonstrated ability to provide analytical and research support.
As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Employee Health Services.
Salary
$35.54 - $45.56 hourly
Proficiency in both Official Languages would be an asset.
