LDS - Learn. Develop. Succeed. is a growing, innovative, research-based, educational nonprofit serving children, youth and adults with diagnosed or suspected learning differences such as dyslexia and dyscalculia and other brain-based differences like ADHD and ASD.

LDS offers individualized, evidence-based, and technology-embracing programs that target student-specific learning needs. Our growing programs and services operate throughout BC online, from our Learning Centers in East Vancouver and North Vancouver, at in-school locations, and in our mobile classroom.

We provide accessible programs to ensure that all children have an opportunity to realize their full potential. We support learners with early intervention and at all stages of the development cycle, leading to profound, positive changes in student learning and life outcomes. Purpose of Position

The Communications Coordinator manages and executes various communication strategies to enhance our organization's image and engagement. They assist in the enhancement of LDS’ brand awareness, internal and external messaging, and support our efforts to ensure clear, consistent and uniform messaging across all channels, in line with our mission.

Principal Roles And Responsibilities

Content Creation and Asset Management

Develop, write, and edit compelling content for LDS’ website, blog, social media, newsletters, and program promotion materials.
Create engaging visual and multimedia assets (e.g., graphics, videos, infographics, report layouts) to support digital and select print communications.
Maintain brand consistency across all communication channels by adhering to LDS’ tone, style, and messaging guidelines.
Coordinate with instructors, families, and team members to source stories that highlight the impact of LDS’ programs.
Manage and update a content calendar to ensure timely and strategic messaging.
Identify and manage assets needed to support communications and outreach efforts.

Outreach and Audience Development

Develop and implement strategies to increase engagement and awareness among families, learners, educators, donors, and the broader community.
Manage LDS’ social media presence, including content scheduling, community engagement, and analytics tracking.
Collaborate with partners and referral network to expand LDS’ reach and visibility.
Support external event promotion and coordination, ensuring alignment with communication goals.
Respond to inquiries and comments from the community (social media, Google reviews), fostering a welcoming and informed online presence.

Data Management

Track, analyze, and report on key metrics for social media, website traffic, email campaigns, and outreach initiatives.
Update relevant aspects of LDS’ contact databases, ensuring accurate and organized records.
Together with the team, use insights from data analysis to refine communication strategies and optimize engagement.
Ensure alignment with LDS' current policies and practices on privacy, data collection and storage.
As a team player, tasks outside of those explicitly outlined may be expected during times of increased need.

Competencies

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional written, and oral and graphical communication skills
Graphic design skills (report layout, social media assets, posters) and an ability to design creatively within brand guidelines
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high level of accuracy
Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable with public speaking
Teamwork skills and the ability to work independently
Ability to take and give constructive feedback

Requirements

2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or other similar fields
Proven knowledge of communications best practices, trends, and ethical guidelines
Experience with marketing/social media tools including Meta, LinkedIn, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with website management in WordPress an asset
Some experience with donor/client focused CRMs, such as Keela, is an asset

Start date: A successful applicant could begin onboarding as early as February 24th, 2025 – flexible arrangements on start date can be made.

Reports to: This position reports to the Senior Manager, Communications.

Hours of work: This position is full-time, 40 hours per week divided between Mondays and Fridays. General working hours are 8:30am – 4:305:00pm.

Remuneration and Benefits: $54,500 – $56,500 per annum

After 3 months of continuous, full-time work, you will be eligible to participate in LDS’ Extended hHealth, dental and travel benefits program

Location: This position is based at our East Vancouver head office, 3292 E Broadway, Vancouver, BC.

Job Type: Full-time, 40 paid hours per week.
