Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Housing Development manages the development of affordable housing and emergency shelter facilities on Region of Peel and Peel Housing Corporation sites from initial concept through to building completion and turnover. The Housing Development units leads the implementation of the Peel Community Housing Development Program and supports non-profit and private developers to create new affordable housing in Peel including the delivery of the Peel Affordable Rental Incentives Program.
What you will do in this role:
As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the project management of affordable housing development and construction projects undertaken as part of the Housing Development Office portfolio with respect to procurement activities, housing development initiatives, research and consultation related to housing development, program and project analysis, recommendations and implementation.
You will be responsible for all key project documents and correspondence including the Project Charter, Work Breakdown Structure, Change Management Plan, Communication Strategy, Project Workplan, project status reports etc. This role will see to the progression of the project work through all project phases (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and close-out).
Utilizing your leadership and relationship management skills, you will collaborate with clients, community partners and key stakeholders including Council, to ensure services meet the department and needs of Peel as well as balancing competing interests and priorities. You will work with your stakeholders to plan, consult and conduct a functional business analysis and provide recommendations that are client centered and value added.
Lastly, you will be accountable for reviewing and managing capital and operational pro formas and oversight of project cash flow as well as providing regular reporting to the Program Manager, Housing Development Director, Project Sponsors, Steering Committees, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
What the role requires:
- Relevant post secondary degree
- Minimum of 5 years project management experience in the development and construction industry
- At least one year of experience leading a medium to large project(s)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying project management methodologies specifically in the housing development industry
- Combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the legislation that supports Housing Development, including but not limited to the Housing Services Act and construction industry standards etc.
- Experience in applying change management principles and methodologies and the ability to lead as well as manage and support change
- Ability to develop and monitor budgets
- Short and long-term planning skills and ability to execute various project plans
- Requires highly-developed communication skills, both oral and written
- Proven presentation skills including the ability to present to various audiences both internal and external to Peel
- Strong understanding of and ability to apply evidence-based decision-making
- Knowledge of performance measurement to ensure evaluation and continuous improvement are built into the project(s)
- Strategic thinking
- Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, facilitation and mentoring skills
- Research and analytical skills to gather, analyze and synthesize data and develop recommendations as necessary
- Knowledge of community resources/services available to residents of the Region of Peel
- Knowledge of systems used to support project management and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of service systems and the ability to apply service system thinking to all project work
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

- PMP Designation
- Knowledge and experience in the development and construction of multi-residential housing

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the
10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
