Job Summary: The Intermediate Wayfinding / Graphic Designer will play a crucial role in developing effective wayfinding solutions and creating visually appealing graphic designs for healthcare projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wayfinding design, environmental graphics, and a passion for enhancing the user experience in healthcare environments. Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with digital signage technology and have experience in integrating mixed media elements into wayfinding strategies. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with project teams, including architects, interior designers, and project managers, to understand the wayfinding needs and graphic design requirements for healthcare projects. Develop and implement comprehensive wayfinding strategies for healthcare facilities, ensuring clear navigation and intuitive user experiences, incorporating both traditional and digital signage elements. Design wayfinding signage and graphics for interior and exterior spaces, including directories, maps, room identifications, and informational signage, utilizing digital signage technology where appropriate. Integrate mixed media elements, such as interactive displays and multimedia content, into wayfinding solutions to enhance user engagement and accessibility. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) and graphic design software to produce design concepts and presentation materials, considering both traditional and digital applications. Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate wayfinding needs and spatial considerations while incorporating digital signage technology and mixed media elements. Collaborate with stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and end-users, to gather feedback and incorporate it into the design process, taking digital and mixed media components into account. Coordinate with digital signage vendors and technology providers to ensure seamless integration of digital elements into the wayfinding design. Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging trends, and technological advancements in digital signage technology and mixed media applications for wayfinding in healthcare environments. Assist in the development and maintenance of wayfinding and graphic design standards for the firm, encompassing both traditional and digital components. Provide support and guidance to junior designers and interns as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Environmental Design, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in wayfinding design, environmental graphics, or related disciplines, with a focus on healthcare projects in Canada. Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of wayfinding design and graphic design projects, including examples of digital signage integration and mixed media applications. Proficiency in graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit). In-depth knowledge of wayfinding principles, ADA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) requirements, and building codes relevant to healthcare environments. Familiarity with digital signage technology and its integration into wayfinding design. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop innovative and user-centric wayfinding solutions that incorporate digital and mixed media elements. Strong communication and presentation skills, with an ability to effectively communicate design concepts to project teams and clients, emphasizing digital and mixed media applications.
