We are looking for a current PhD student or recent postgraduate to join our R&D team in Sydney, Nova Scotia, as part of a 4-6 month Mitacs Internship. This role offers an opportunity to work with our core founding team on the development of groundbreaking technology. As a team member, you will contribute to advancing the scalability of a novel technology and shaping the future of sustainable food.
Responsibilities
- Design and perform experiments related to stem cell proliferation and differentiation, independently and in collaboration with team members.
- Collect, analyze, interpret, and present experimental data.
- Assist with grant applications and prepare technical reports/scientific papers.
- Support laboratory operations and contribute to maintaining an efficient workflow.
- Actively participate in scientific discussions and share critical feedback.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a PhD in stem cell science, biophysics, biomedical engineering, synthetic biology, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with mammalian cell cultures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A passion for sustainability and alternative proteins.
Desirable (but not required) experience
- Work on adipose fat cell differentiation.
- Experience with 3D cell culture models.
- Exposure to industrial processes (e.g., bioreactor design).
