Job Description
As an Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting fundamental investment research, assisting in building recommendations, implementing investments strategies, and monitoring and managing portfolio investments.
Team Description
The Secondaries group sits within CPP Investments’ Private Equity department and invests directly in the private equity secondaries market by leveraging CPP Investments’ strategic advantages of scale, best in class GP relationships, and an established track record.
Accountabilities
- Establish robust quantitative and qualitative understanding for Secondaries transactions and the group’s product suite
- Compile industry, market and asset level data and financial information to support research
- Actively participate in the due diligence process, including developing company financial models, leading due diligence meetings, contributing discrete pieces of analysis and insight to support investment decisions
- Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including written investment rationales and due diligence reviews
- Actively participate in investment meetings by presenting transactions and taking part in the Q&A discussions of transactions brought forward by other deal teams
- Monitor ongoing financial and risk performance of portfolio assets
- Update financial models and other analytical tools to support the idea generation process and rationale behind changes in investment view
- Balance multiple deal teams at a given time in a supporting role
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in relevant field
- An advanced degree or certification (CFA) is an asset
- Up to 3 years of relevant work experience (e.g. investment banking, consulting, private equity, business development, etc.)
- Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively
- Advanced computer/technical skills – MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Desire to live in Toronto and willingness to travel
