As a Collections Contact Officer, you will be asked to :
- Initiate contact with taxpayers;
- Verify and analyse account and taxpayer information to identify sources of recovery;
- Receive and respond to enquiries and complaints from taxpayers and representatives;
- Make recommendations for relief;
- Initiate and follow through with all legal actions.

CRA's National Employment Equity (EE) Staffing Strategy strives to eliminate gaps for the four EE designated groups: Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and women. Where an EE gap exists at the time of appointment, EE may be used as an appointment criterion for permanent and temporary appointments over six months made through this process.
Employees are required to work on-site at a CRA-approved location a minimum of three days per week or 60% of their regular monthly work schedule. Individual exceptions may be granted based on individual circumstances and the nature of the work being performed.

SCREENING FOR PREREQUISITES STAGE
Who can apply?
Persons living in Canada and Canadian citizens and permanent residents living abroad.
Preference for appointment will be given to veterans, Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in the following CRA offices only : Shawinigan, Montréal, Laval, Brossard, Gatineau, Rouyn-Noranda, Trois-Rivieres, Sherbrooke, Quebec, Chicoutimi and Rimouski. If you are a candidate from the general public, you will have to pay for any expenses related to your participation in this staffing process, as well as any relocation costs if you receive an offer of employment from this process.
Qualified members and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces who receive an offer of employment are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defence.

Minimum Staffing Requirements
Education :
To be eligible, you must have a secondary school diploma issued by a recognized educational institution*
You must upload your proof of education in the Education section of your Candidate profile by the closing date and time indicated on this poster. Failure to do so will result in your application being rejected.
Candidates are encouraged to submit their online application, education credentials and all required documents as soon as possible. Candidates will be screened for the prerequisite staffing requirements on an on-going basis. Candidates who meet the prerequisite staffing requirements will continue to progress in this staffing process.
Essential Staffing Requirements
Option 1 :
You must have at least 6 cumulative months of experience within the last 5 years in the following area:
- Experience in the collection of debts from individuals or businesses (creditors) such as loans, credit card debts, mortgages, accounts receivable, taxes, etc.
- For example, if you have experience in debt collection in a government institution, financial institution or private/para-governmental organization.
AND/OR
Option 2 :
You must have at least 6 cumulative months of experience within the last 5 years in the following area:
- Experience in credit administration and/or transaction verification in the financial services industry or federal, provincial tax, QPP/CPP, EI, QPIP, GST, QST, HST, etc., including credit investigations and analysis of an applicant's financial situation to determine risk, for the granting of mortgages, credit cards, trade or other credit to individuals or businesses.
- For example, if you have previously worked as a credit administrator/financial analyst in insurance companies, financial institutions, private or public organizations or investment companies.
AND/OR
Option 3 :
You must have at least 6 cumulative months of experience within the last 5 years in the following area:
- Experience in bookkeeping (including payroll records, remittance of source deductions, federal and provincial tax, QPP/CPP, EI, QPIP, GST, QST, HST, etc.).
AND/OR
Option 4:
To be eligible, you must have a college diploma in the administrative technique program (for example: DCS - Accounting and management technology) issued by a recognized educational institution* or equivalent. Please note that higher level of education in the field of Accounting, Business or Finance will also be accepted. (for example: Bachelor of Business Administration)
- To be recognized, the institution must be listed in the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials. If you have a diploma issued by an institution outside Canada, you must provide a COMPARATIVE EVALUATION FOR STUDIES DONE OUTSIDE QUEBEC issued by the Québec's Immigration, Diversity and inclusion Ministry or the equivalent issued by any Canadian province.
It is the candidate responsibility to demonstrate that they meet the experience requirements. If you do not provide sufficient information, your application may be rejected.
Candidates must have the required experience by the closing date of this notice.
Please note that sub-pools may be created based on one or more of the above options.
Once you have accepted a job offer, you may not be eligible for further job opportunity within this staffing process until your current contract expires, in order to minimise work interruptions. However, you will remain in the pools until they expire.
In the case of candidates previously terminated or rejected on probation from positions within the CRA, please note that additional verifications will be conducted. Based on the reasons for termination or rejection, an applicant may not be considered further in the staffing process/considered for appointment, as they may be deemed to not meet one or more of the staffing requirements.
Assessment
If you have a limitation that may impact your performance during an assessment, such as a test or interview, you may require an accommodation, and we encourage you to ask for it.
