Research Officer, Evaluation and Learning
This is a 1 year contract hybrid position based out of the CIFAR office located in the MaRS Discovery building. Staff are required to be in the office three days a week, ensuring a balance of in-person collaboration and flexibility.

Purpose of the Position:
The Research Officer, Evaluation and Learning supports the implementation of CIFAR’s performance management, evaluation, and learning activities. This position reports to the Manager, Evaluation and Learning to provide expertise and support on project management, data planning, analysis, reporting, and visualization for evaluation and learning initiatives across the organization. The position works collaboratively within the Research team, and across funding and IT teams, to coordinate Measurement, Evaluation, and Learning processes and activities.
Responsibilities:
- Project management of evaluation activities, including annual data collection from members of the CIFAR research community, program reviews, and case studies
- Lead efforts in data planning and accuracy. Coordinate with other data stewards across teams to ensure data are available, relevant, and accurate to support evaluation and learning needs.
- Contribute to data analysis for evaluation and learning projects, using a combination of quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques.
- Participate in preparation of evaluation, performance and monitoring plans for projects
- Support teams across CIFAR to meet data and reporting requests to external funders and donors
- Coordinate with external vendor and teams to gather EDI data
- Develop data visualization and dashboards to support business needs
- Document best practices and lessons learned, and share with staff teams, to foster culture of experimentation and learning
- Develop SOPs and documentation of measurement, evaluation, and learning processes
Qualifications:
Education/Experience required:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 2-4 years of recent related experience
- Experience working in a research or post- secondary environment is considered an asset.
Core Professional/Technical Knowledge & Skills required for the position:
- Skill to gather, organize, and synthesize large amounts of information.
- Well-developed writing and general communication skills.
- Data retrieval, management, and analysis (SPSS, R, Stata)
- Data visualization (Tableau, PowerBI)
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Strong project management skills (PMP certification is an asset)
- Knowledge of academia and the research process, considered an asset
