TWD is currently seeking 3-5 Junior / Intermediate Construction Managers to support our client in the GTA area!
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the charge in delivering high-impact, complex transit projects that will transform the way people move in our region. manages the delivery of complex and large-scale projects. Working with a team of passionate employees, consultants, and contractors, the Construction Manager acts as the central point of contact for construction related matters, driving efficiency and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest technical, compliance, safety, and quality standards. Construction Managers may require travel to various locations across the Greater Toronto Area for project site visits.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides project reports to multiple stakeholders and Senior Management, including but not limited to schedule management, cost management, stakeholder management, risk management, design & engineering, quality, safety, document control, flagging, corridor access, etc.
- Ensures the project is progressing by completing, assigning, and monitoring day-to-day tasks and providing updates to management.
- Coordinates with external stakeholders (e.g. municipalities, transit authorities, government agencies, and property owners) on resolution of design (construction and/or commissioning) issues, timelines, deliverables, changes and other issues impacting project progress, quality, cost, and safety.
- Identifies, monitors, mitigates, and escalates issues that can potentially put the success of the project at risk.
- Coordinates the preparation and review of estimates for studies, design, construction, and contingency costs.
- Ensures an approved schedule is developed, maintained and updated throughout the project life cycle.
- Ensures that only approved work scope is delivered by the project and that the project lifecycle is completed within budget.
- Performs full project life-cycle project management role and responsibilities within a collaborative minded project team on a complex, dynamic and high-risk project.
- Provides administrative, design, editing, technical, estimating, and priority direction to staff and personnel assigned to individual projects, through all project stages.
- Works with a multidisciplinary team comprised of employees, delivery partner, consultants and contractors to deliver high-quality product and service, and oversees the day-to-day delivery of project team members involved in the coordination and administration of project elements.
- Reviews requests for acquisitions, requisitions for purchase orders, change orders for contracts and addenda for consultant agreements ensuring fulfillment of contracts.
- Coordinate the tender and award of contracts, property requests for acquisitions, purchase orders, change orders for supply/construction contracts and addenda for consultant assignments.
- Review and evaluate consultant studies, reports, design proposals, specifications and contract documents for compliance with our client policies, procedures and standards, and any other applicable industry guidelines or practices
- The Project Manager manages and monitors contracts and holds vendors accountable to ensure requirements meet our clients standards.
- Prepare reports, logs, and presentations to various stakeholders and the management team on a regular basis, working collaboratively to meet internal and external stakeholder requirements.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a degree in Engineering or a combination of relevant education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in managing construction projects involving planning, design, construction, and commissioning, preferably, but not limited within the context of transit facilities, heavy Railway infrastructure, bridges, structures, and related civil works in the public sector.
- Demonstrated construction management skills and experience managing multiple complex projects under pressure to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designations are considered an asset
- Knowledge of construction standards and procedures applicable to an operating Railway environment. Organizational skills to coordinate complex multi-disciplinary projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
- Strong Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation and strong communication skills to liaise with all levels within the organization and on construction sites.
- A valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence is an asset for regular site visits.
