Indigenous Outreach Coordinator (Part Time)

Salary: $16.40/hr - $20.15/hr

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
· A passion for working with Indigenous children and youth.
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in working with Indigenous peoples and communities.
· Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history and worldview.
· Cultural knowledge and experience working with Elders and Cultural Advisors
· Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning
· Reliability and an understanding of the importance of time management
· Willing to work independently and within a team environment.
· Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task
· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
· Three professional references
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and responsibilities include:
· Be available for programs afterschool and in the evening in the North Zone.
· Assist in coordinating and implementing the delivery of programs to meet the needs of Indigenous school- aged children and youth ensuring educational, cultural and social goals are met.
· Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times.
· Maintain positive relationships with school staff.
· Administrative duties.
· Promote cross-cultural understanding.
· Other department or association duties as required.
