The Roll-Off Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers across multiple lines of businesses. The CDL Driver will collect waste from customer sites and transport to post-collection facilities for proper disposal.
This is a temporary role with the potential to become fulltime
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate roll-off truck and ancillary equipment to collect waste.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, complete necessary documentation (daily truck report, route sheets, etc.), and report mechanical issues to supervisor.
- Maintain high route quality standards as established by management.
- Operate truck and equipment to minimize mechanical failures and ensure safety.
- Adhere to all safety standards and vehicle operation rules (federal, state/provincial, local, and company-specific regulations).
- Communicate potential hazards to Supervisor/Lead before performing tasks.
- Maintain a clean vehicle by cleaning both the interior and exterior.
- Report accidents or incidents to supervisors immediately.
- Maintain professional demeanor and appearance when meeting customers or the general public.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., gloves, reflective vest, safety glasses, work boots).
- Maintain accurate service records and contribute to improving route efficiencies.
- Attend safety and branch meetings as required.
- May be required to work overtime.
- Perform additional duties as requested by management.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
- Ability to meet safety-sensitive function criteria according to company standards.
- Ability to operate truck and equipment safely.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong ability to operate required vehicles and equipment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to perform basic math and apply it to job functions.
- Capable of writing reports (e.g., pre-trip/post-trip inspections, accident reports).
- Ability to understand and apply company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks (e.g., lifting, crouching, climbing).
- Strong visual abilities required for driving in various conditions (e.g., close vision, peripheral vision).
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 100 pounds.
- Able to work in high-stress, noisy environments and in various weather conditions.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions.
- Primarily outdoor work environment (up to 100% of the time).
- Work in and around traffic conditions.
- Occasional exposure to high places and hazardous chemicals.
