Records Support Clerk
1 Temporary Full-Time Position

The Saanich Police Department is seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Records Support Clerk to join the Administration Division – Records Section. This temporary full-time opportunity well suited to an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and is able to manage sensitive information with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
Reporting to the Records Supervisor, the Records Support Clerk performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties including processing police reports, data entry, transcription, and records management. The role involves operating police records systems such as RMS, CPIC and JUSTIN, validating and maintaining data accuracy, responding to public inquiries, and routing calls appropriately. Responsibilities also include handling and filing sensitive police and court documents, supporting mail distribution, and transcribing reports and statements, which may include exposure to graphic or sensitive content. The position requires adherence to strict timelines, procedures, and confidentiality standards in a continuous operations environment.
Requirements include completion of Grade 12, supplemented by coursework in office administration, along with a minimum of one year of experience in office or business administration, preferably within a police or public sector environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy in data entry and transcription, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. A keyboarding speed of 55 wpm is required. The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain enhanced reliability security clearance, including a polygraph. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidates will be scheduled for two standard shifts: 11-hour day shifts between 0630 and 1830, rotating 9-hour night shifts between 1830 and 0430 and 2030 and 0630. May be scheduled on any day of the year, including weekdays, weekends, nights, statutory holidays and during peak seasons.
