Scope
The Civic Facilities Division is seeking to add a skilled and motivated Carpenter to its team—someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. As a Tradesperson 2 – Carpenter, you will perform a wide range of skilled carpentry work involving significant physical effort, contributing to the maintenance, alteration, repair, and minor construction of City buildings and facilities. This role offers the opportunity to apply your trade expertise to meaningful projects that support safe, functional, and well-maintained public spaces.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled carpentry work for the construction, repair, alteration, and maintenance of City buildings and facilities
- Completes interior and exterior finishing work, including siding, trim, doors, and windows
- Constructs and maintains framing, drywall, roofing, insulation, and formwork
- Carries out cabinet making and custom carpentry tasks such as counters, tables, and fixtures
- Reads and interprets blueprints, plans, and drawings to execute work accurately
- Assists with estimating materials, labour, time, and project costs
- Orders and manages materials and supplies required for job completion
- Maintains accurate records and daily logs of work performed
- Responds to routine inquiries from staff, clients, and the public
- Operates a City vehicle to travel between job sites
- Collaborates with and assists other trades and crew members as needed
- Performs job-related duties as needed
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12
- A Carpentry Trades Qualification
- Previous experience and training as a qualified trades carpenter
- A Valid B.C. Driver's License with safe driving record
- Strong knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, tools, and equipment
- Effective communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Physical strength, stamina and coordination to carry out the duties of the position

Hourly Rate: $46.39
