WHERE YOU COME IN
We are looking for a
Manager, Development to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Chapter Director, you will be accountable for developing and executing strategies and providing expertise to coordinate fundraising activities for the province, including signature fundraising initiatives, third party events and the identification of new fund development opportunities. This role will include prospect research and development opportunities to increase revenue and meet budgeting goals.
This role can be based anywhere in New Brunswick, and is a
full-time, permanent, remote position (unless based near Saint John, where the role would be hybrid).
What You Will Do
- Work in collaboration with direct supervisor to develop and execute short-term and long-term development goals, ensuring increased revenue year-over-year.
- Strengthen and expand revenue development opportunities with existing donors through cultivation and implementation of strategies.
- Plan and coordinate first-party events for the province, as well as lend support to third-party event organizers.
- Prospect research to identify and recruit new business opportunities will be a focus as well as developing customized stewardship strategies.
- Collaborate with national and regional staff as appropriate in fulfilling the mission, strategy and goals of MAWC.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders (National Office, volunteers, suppliers, sponsors, donors, media, and community liaisons) to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all fundraising initiatives.
- Utilize strong Salesforce knowledge to input and track donor activities, reporting.
- Utilize strong prospect research skills and programs.
- Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for the Foundation, specifically when communicating with donors and other stakeholders.
- Continuously works to increase awareness of MAWC through all contacts and business interactions through relationships, marketing, and promotion.
- Adhere to Imagine Canada’s Ethical Code.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in Business, Fundraisi ng, or other relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in a fundraising/management role in the not-for-profit or charitable sectors.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising activities, donor relations and relationship management.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and maintain long-standing stakeholder relationships.
- Proven ability to take initiative and carry projects to completion with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead a team and coach others to achieve common goals; notably, manage volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to exercise sound judgment in relations with a diverse group of volunteers, staff, clients, vendors, suppliers and the public.
- General financial management skills to meet/exceed revenue targets, ability to manage operations within an established budget, and knowledge of government receipting requirements.
- Strong MS Office skills (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
- Access to reliable transportation to and from the office, for onsite visits and meetings with sponsors, donors, and the community, as well as for events.
- A clear criminal background check will be required.
YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid work environment (2 days in-office, 3 days remote per week) with occasional requirement to work outside of traditional office hours. Primary responsibilities are carried out in the local office and remotely, however, you may occasionally be required to be out of the office for visits with sponsors and donors, and for other site visits and attending events in the community.
- Requires evenings/weekends on occasion.
- Occasional day and overnight travel across New Brunswick for attendance at events (Fredericton, Saint John, and Moncton).
Physical/Mental Effort
- Work under pressure of tight deadlines, with a high-volume workload, and with multiple demands & changing priorities.
- Demonstrates emotional resiliency to be able to conduct cold-calls and continue to develop donor relations.
