We are currently seeking a candidate for Analytical scientist I role within our “Centre of Excellence” collaboration, dedicated to developing new and innovative products through extensive research and understanding of cannabis with a focus on research and development.
Reporting to the Analytical Scientist II, the successful candidate will possess practical Chemistry experience using modern spectrometry and chromatography techniques and have a keen eye for details, be hardworking with strong decision-making abilities. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful and creative problem solver, will be able to work individually as well as in a team environment, has excellent organizational skills, a quick learner with an ability to consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
This position is based in our facility located in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work safely following good laboratory practices
· Execute and perform analytical testing experiments in support of product development
· Develop and validate analytical methodology using a range of analytical instrumentation
· Perform analysis and collect data pertaining to raw materials, in-process materials, finished products and stability samples
· Plan, perform, and interpret results of experiments and projects, ensure data quality, and complete report summaries
· Communicate progress of work to peers and managers in the form of presentations and reports
· Identify and report instrument malfunction and troubleshoot the error proactively to make instrument functional
· Monitor lab supplies and arrange stocking them as needed
· Apply scientific problem-solving skills and utilize all available resources to proactively implement solutions and adopt industry best practices
· Work according to QMS system to ensure compliance with external and internal regulatory guidelines
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Graduate degree in Analytical Sciences, a B.Sc. or Biotechnology degree
· 2+ years' practical experience in an R&D environment
· Hands-on experience on HPLC, LCMS and GCMS is required
· Experience interpreting results and summarizing results in scientific reports
· Experience in development and validation of analytical methodology is an asset
· Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task
· Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
· Continuous Improvement mindset: ability to troubleshoot issues, foresee problems, and proactively seek solutions
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and word
· Must have aptitude and analytical abilities as it applies to running standardized testing methods
