Role Overview:
We are seeking a Business Development Manager to spearhead our efforts to expand our network of licensed mortgage brokers and associates across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, while also developing relationships with private lenders in these regions. This individual will also be responsible for fostering relationships with individual private lenders, growing our investor pool, and driving the company’s growth.
This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, possesses strong financial acumen, and is motivated by achieving results.
Key Responsibilities:
Broker Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with licensed mortgage brokers and associates, promoting our private lending solutions.
Investor Development: Identify, attract, and develop relationships with individual private lenders (ILPs), educating them on investment opportunities and interest rate structures.
Sales Leadership: Lead sales efforts, meet and exceed set targets, and contribute to the company’s significant growth trajectory.
Regulatory Compliance: Operate effectively within a highly regulated industry, adhering to provincial and federal lending regulations.
Market Expansion: Drive market presence in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, including frequent travel to establish and strengthen relationships.
Conference Travel: Attend conferences, training sessions, and networking events, which may require travel outside the region, including flights and extended stays.
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategies to expand the broker network and investor pool.
Client Service Excellence: Maintain a high standard of service, ensuring client and investor satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Licensing: Must either be currently licensed or able to obtain licensing as a mortgage associate in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in mortgage lending, private lending, or financial advisory roles.
Clean Record: Must provide a clean criminal record check.
Financial Acumen: Strong knowledge of investments, interest rates, mortgage structures, and basic tax implications on investments.
Sales Expertise: Proven track record of successful sales and business development.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with mortgage and lending regulations, and compliance requirements.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Monday.com for project and workflow management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to effectively use industry-related software and tools.
Soft Skills: Resourceful, outgoing, self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Mobility: Driver’s license and access to own transportation. Willingness to travel frequently across the region and beyond for conferences and events.
