Job Description
The Field Engineer is responsible for supporting documentation and on-site inspections for quality control, collaborating with subcontractors on Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) and Subcontractor Quality Plans (SQPs), coordinating testing and inspections, handling deficiency management, providing training and support to the project team, and participating in quality audits.
- Execute high-quality tasks in accordance with the requirements of the project and contract.
- Support with documentation and on-site inspections aimed at making sure construction activities are conducted in line with the contract's terms.
- Examine the project requirements and note any requirements for quality.
- Participate in meetings with onsite quality control officials to pinpoint problem areas, address them, and devise better ways to avoid and fix additional problems.
- Assist subcontractors in creating Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) that are specific to their job; when needed, evaluate, and approve existing ITPs or create new ones.
- Organize the testing and inspection phases to be carried out together.
- Work with subcontractors to produce Subcontractor Quality Plans (SQPs), submit them, as well as reviewing and approving them.
- Carry out internal and external audits to guarantee that quality control criteria are followed and maintained.
- Collaborate with all parties to ensure that scheduled QA/QC procedures, such as mock-up reviews and approvals, testing, inspections, and surveys are carried out correctly.
- Examine the requirements, drawings, and tasks in conjunction with the project team.
- Handle the Deficiency Management System's implementation, including the investigation, disposition, and application of corrective and preventative measures related to Non-Conformance Report processes.
- Offer training and assistance, ensuring that all members of the project have a sufficient understanding of the quality plan.
- Take part in quality audits to determine how well the project quality management system is being utilized.
Qualifications
- Tradesperson or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations and specifications in the industry (National Master Specifications, OPSS, CSA, ASTM).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Standard.
