The location of this position will be Winnipeg, Thompson, or any NAMO Airport Worksite as per operational requirements.
Northern Airports and Marine Operations provides provincial airport and marine infrastructure and services to Manitoba.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba class 5F driver’s licence without restrictions. Must be able to work irregular and extended hours.
- Must be able to stay overnight in remote work sites within the province for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to travel within the province by ground, water, or air transportation.
- Must be capable of performing physical requirements for maintenance operations.
- Must be capable of obtaining First Aid Certification, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate, WHMIS Certification, as well as obtain a Radio/Telephone Operators Licence (with training designation) through on the job training within 6 months of hire.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Extensive experience in Airport Management/Airport Operations.
- Extensive supervisory experience.
- Experience working with related acts, regulations, policies and guidelines that pertain to Airport operations Including Transport Canada Regulations and publications.
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor others in best practices, continuous learning, and self development
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and courteously with the public, Department personnel, airport carriers, local councils, Transport Canada and other Branches of the Federal and Provincial Government.
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to prepare letters, memorandums and reports for a wide ranging audience.
- Strong decision making skills
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Desired:
- Ability to operate and make minor repairs to maintenance equipment.
- Experience working in remote northern communities.
Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Airport Operations, the position provides leadership, supervision, and guidance to the Airport Managers of a region. Oversees 3 to 7 airports located in remote Northern Manitoba communities. Ensures that limited resources are optimized to provide a safe, effective and efficient day to day operation at each of the airports in accordance with Transport Canada Regulations. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the public, air carriers, band and community councils, airport staff, Transport Canada and other Branches of the Federal and Provincial Government.
