Main responsibilities:
- Long- and short-read high-throughput sequencing of viral and bacterial samples.
- Assembly of viral and bacterial genome sequences, with a focus on maintaining variant linkages (haplotype analysis).
- Collaborative design of bioinformatic readouts supporting variant analysis and 3D modeling.
About you
Experience:
- Hands-on laboratory experience with high-throughput sequencing.
- Experience with both long-read (e.g. Oxford Nanopore) and short-read (e.g. Illumina) technologies would be highly preferred.
- Experience working with bioinformatic pipelines to analyse high-throughput sequencing data; scripting skills in the context of pipeline development would be an asset.
Technical and soft skills:
- Strong foundational knowledge about viral genomics and evolution as it relates to sequence variation; additional expertise in bacterial genomics and evolution would be an asset.
- Comfortable working independently as well as in a team environment.
- Advanced communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong attention to detail.
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology or a related discipline.
Languages:
- Fluency in English is mandatory, some fluency in French is preferred.
