WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
As the Senior Graphic Designer, you will drive the creation and execution of all print and digital assets, ensuring Mustang Survival’s brand identity is consistent and impactful. Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Ecommerce, you’ll collaborate with teams across Canada, the U.S., and the UK to deliver high-quality design projects that align with our brand’s 60 year heritage while reflecting our innovative and technical designs. This role demands a seasoned designer with a sharp eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple timelines in a dynamic environment. This position will be hybrid and based in our Burnaby Headquarter.
What We Offer
We estimate the salary range for this position to be between $75,000 - $90,000 annually. Mustang will consider candidates with relevant industry experience. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. RESPONSIBILITY
Brand Consistency
- Under guidance of Head of Marketing & D2C ensure Brand consistency and alignment across all channels
- Ability to develop creative executions consistently at a high standard of quality
- Leading creative direction for the Mustang Survival Brand through development of brand standards
- Ensuring brand consistency through holistic approach to the design of all consumer facing executions
Design Thinking
- Design direction of campaigns from concept and ideation through to design and delivery
- Manage Design project que & communicate update status reports
- Monitor trends & industry movement, research precedents & communicate how it impacts our consumer experience
- Creating mockups, prototypes and full design concepts quickly and independently
- Iterate on solutions to continually enhance and improve the consumer experience on all our projects
- Explain your rationale for any creative choices
- Lead/manage and support ongoing projects as required/assigned
- Collaborating with external designers and freelancers and leading the development of creative work from ideation through production if needed.
Graphic and Production Design
- Development of templates, automations, efficiencies, and solutions that enable the marketing team to deploy marketing campaigns and collateral effectively.
- Manage Design project queue & communicate/update status report
- Execute fast-turnaround design requests as required
- Creation of digital/website design assets
- Support UX designs and collaborate with UX designers
- Create support graphics/content development for social media
- Creation of concept decks and other internal pitch documents
- Create consistent packaging design
- Graphic support for dealer and retail environments
- Design & production of workbooks, trade show materials production, point of purchase templates
- Creation/population & export of campaign templates
- Collaborate with internal departments & external contractors/consultant
- Manage and maintain templates and archive of design assets
- Development of systems of automation to enable the marketing team to deliver more executions in a shorter amount of design time
Current Additional Responsibilities
Aspirational Responsibilities
- Partner with product team to support development of on-product branding guidelines
- Development of an “off duty” program to deliver on the request of fun/ funny hats tees and other products without hurting the equity of trust as a lifesaving brand
- Partner with external agencies to support environmental design and installations such as wayfinding solutions, interactive, augmented reality and industrial design.
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Graphic design, Visual Communication, or related field.
- Advanced knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects) and Figma.
- Certifications in UX/UI, motion graphics, or digital marketing design are ideal.
- 5+ years in graphic design, preferably in the marine, outdoor, or performance apparel industries.
- Design thinking, systems thinking, intuitive design and layout sensibilities with a strong typographical skillset
- Proficiency in Figma is required, along with the ability to build and maintain comprehensive design systems to ensure consistency across web, print, and all marketing and media assets.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and evolve brand identity across diverse platforms and markets.
- Understanding of outdoor industry trends, including technical product design, sustainability, and customer demographics.
- Experience managing complex design projects and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and e-commerce.
- Strong organizational and administration skills, and a commitment to follow-through
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Proficient with software tools including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, Power Point and Outlook
- Solutions oriented with an ability to interpret briefs and problem solve
- Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to bring fresh, innovative ideas to life.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all deliverables.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teams across multiple time zones and disciplines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and the occasional chaos.
- Proactive, organized, and capable of managing deadlines independently.
- A passion for the outdoors, water life, Mustang Survival and its products which informs and inspires your design work, is highly desirable.
- Clear and professional communication skills to articulate design concepts and receive feedback constructively.
