Untether AI is building the world’s highest performance pure-digital AI inference startup. We’re a rapidly growing Toronto-based startup, with employees across Canada and the US (and even a few outside North America), building next generation hardware AI accelerators for neural net inference. We are investing in software in a big way in order to make it as seamless as possible for researchers and developers to successfully deploy neural networks on our hardware.
The aim of this role will be to support the others in the HR team, to work with the larger HR & Operations team to support our current and future employees.
While the description below outlines some of your responsibilities, the whole team rolls up our sleeves everyday and pitches in on different projects and activities. No two days will be the same. You will also have the opportunity to share your expertise and interests with the rest of us. Your approach to work will show your attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting our Recruiting Activities, including:
- Scheduling interviews
- Engaging with external recruiting partners
- Writing job descriptions
- Partnering with other team members on pre-onboarding and onboarding activities
- Rolling out, or supporting the roll out of programs and processes across the organization and providing training to employees as required

Beyond this, the role will give you exposure to other annual processes and unique one-off processes. Each team member acts as a generalist so the opportunity to learn and be involved in different areas of HR that are of interest to you is high including compensation, performance management, tools implementation, compliance, etc.
This role requires you to be at our office at 20 Toronto Street, Toronto at least four days a week. The office is close to public transportation and an easy walk from Union Station or the King Street subway station.
This might be the right opportunity for you if you have:
- Minimum of 2 years of related HR or administrative experience
- A related college/university degree or additional experience that reflects a foundational, theoretical knowledge of HR
- An appetite for doing things in a structured and planful way. There is lots of room for you to put your fingerprints on how our team supports the rest of the organization
- Strong organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, meaning a high level of comfort engaging directly with colleagues, presenting materials to a small audience and reaching out to people who may be new to you
- A natural curiosity for the AI industry, specifically around cutting edge research within the chip/semiconductor space
This role is a fixed term contract (up to 12 months). Having said that, with our expected growth there may be an opportunity for full-time employment.
As our engineering teams grow, the need for our support functions, including HR, to grow with them. This is an excellent opportunity to show your current capabilities and future potential. We believe in promoting our talent first before looking externally.
What is in it for you?
- An incredible opportunity to see an AI start-up from the inside
- Great learning opportunities within HR and beyond
- Lunch, often twice a week
- Working with a smart and kind group of people across the organization

Besides being a pretty friendly group, we’re also pretty diverse - ethnically, experientially and in our physical and mental abilities.
