Position Summary
In this role, the incumbent will play a crucial part in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic business decisions. You will leverage your expertise in SQL, DBT, Tableau, and data transformation techniques to build and maintain robust data pipelines and insightful dashboards. The position reports to the Software Development Manager.
Responsbilities
Data Transformation and Modeling:
- Design, develop, and maintain data transformations using DBT (Data Build Tool) to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Build and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Develop and maintain data models that support business reporting and analytical needs.
- Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Business Intelligence And Reporting
- Develop interactive and insightful dashboards and reports using Tableau to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their reporting requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
- Conduct ad-hoc data analysis to answer business questions and provide actionable insights.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of BI dashboards and reports.
Data Pipeline Development And Maintenance
- Design and implement efficient and scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues, ensuring data availability and reliability.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of data warehousing solutions.
- Work with cloud-based data warehouses.
Collaboration And Communication
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver effective solutions.
- Communicate complex data concepts and findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Document data processes, transformations, and reporting methodologies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience transforming raw data into usable business information.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Expertise in creating interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau or similar applications.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling principles.
- Experience with data transformation techniques and best practices.
- Experience with S3 (as a data lake), Snowflake, DBT will be beneficial.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages for data processing.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Other Considerations
- Hybrid Model: The incumbent will be required to attend the office at least two (2) days per week. In addition, you are required to attend meetings an other business events at the office or other venues as business needs dictate.
- Work Schedule: Due to the nature of the business, the incumbent must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
- Travel: The incumbent may be required to travel to CFL pillar events, including but not limited to CFL Combine, Grey Cup Playoffs and Grey Cup.
