Human Resources Manager - permanent position - salary $110K

LOCATION: Kingston, ON.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma with a focus on Human Resources Management and/or Industrial Relations or related
- Currently working towards OR already having obtained a CHRP designation an asset
- 7 yrs+ direct progressive industrial work experience in Human Resources up to Manager level
- Experience with a unionized environment and dealing with CBA matters
- Experience with WSIB and Health & Safety program administration
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Good decision-making and managerial skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate HR policies and procedures, legislation and collective agreements
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications; ERP experience an asset
Responsibilities:
- Provide proactive HR support to management and non-management employees within applicable legislative guidelines as well as terms of CBA
- Responsible for implementation of policies, programs and procedures regarding all Human Resource functions
- Work closely with Operations Manager and Chief Operating Officer to deliver internal and external customer support
- Develop, coordinate and deliver HR programs, ensure compliance with relevant legislations, organizational policies and CBA to reduce related corporate risks
- Build strong relations with the management team, employees and the union utilizing proactive, cooperative and collaborative problem solving approaches and communication techniques
- Provide labour relations advice including administration and consistent interpretation of CBA and advising management on grievance administration and negotiations
- Develop and implement an effective recruitment strategy to attract qualified candidates to strengthen the quality of the workforce
- Maintain and enhance training and development programs to ensure a competent workforce
- Oversee performance appraisal programs
- Manage corrective discipline program
- Ensure employee records are maintained and up to date
- Oversee WSIB claims process (including review and analysis of benefit claims) and Health & Safety programs and ensure RTW programs are effective and adhered to
- Maintain employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits; recommend benefit programs to management; direct benefits claims processing; obtain and evaluate benefit contract bids and award benefit contracts; design and conduct educational programs on benefit programs
- Prepare HR statistics for management team
- Coordinate organizational communication strategy to foster a collective and productive corporate direction
- Maintain historical HR records by designing a filing and retrieval system for keeping past and current records
- Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the President
