Mandate
- To prepare credit reviews on new and existing corporate, bank and non-bank financial institutions, as directed by Director of the department.
- To perform tasks in accordance with Branch policies, procedures, manuals, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations
- To communicate and work closely with all department personnel as well as other departments to ensure smooth operation of the Branch
- The majority of the work will involve credit risk analysis and review associated with corporate banking, trade finance and treasury products
- Conduct various credit risk activities spans the initial analysis of proposed transactions, monitoring individual transactions and monitoring of the portfolio of credit risks.
- The Analyst will be capable of working independently or with more senior members on particularly complex issues
- Conduct risk review on new credit application, including but not limited to review proposed internal risk ratings, credit line and credit business. Write comprehensive risk review opinions on the proposed credit.
- Perform annual risk review and provide updates on key findings and early warning signs if any to Director of RMD, and recommend specific remediation plans.
- The incumbent will be responsible for supporting key industry studies.
- The incumbent will also be required to participate in all ongoing training of the credit staff and account managers.
- Provide risk analysis and review on credit applications/proposals, including: In-depth financial statement analysis; Research and analysis of a borrower-specific and industry-wide business risks; Peer comparisons
- Make independent and objective recommendations regarding risk ratings
- Provide portfolio risk analysis, review and reporting
- Identify early warning signs of existing customers and ensure accuracy of internal ratings and risk classifications
- Work at all times within a comprehensive suite of risk policies and procedures
Job Specifications
· Undergraduate degree preferably in accounting, business administration, finance, and/or economics
· Master's degree, preferably in economics, business administration or finance, an asset
· Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) an asset
· Minimum of 3 years experience in Canadian corporate banking, Credit Adjudication/Credit Rating or financial analysis
· Strong oral and written communication, reporting, and presentation skills in English
· Mandarin and Simplified Chinese, an asset
· Familiarity with PC based applications with a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
· Positive, professional, and proactive work attitude with strong integrity and work ethics
· Exceptional quantitative analytics, financial modeling, credit analysis, and industry/company research skills
· Effective approach and strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships within a demanding team environment and in client interactions
· Detail oriented, exceptionally organized, proficient in time/project management to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
